Guyanese student tops region in CXC


Guyanese student, Shirvanie Persaud, has been named Most Outstanding Student Overall in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) May/June 2006 examinations while her colleague Valencia Bailey won the award for Most Outstanding Performance in the Sciences.{{more}}

Both young ladies were from Queen’s College.

The 17-year-old Persaud swept through the exams with a mesmerizing performance in 13 subjects.

Dr Lucy Steward, Registrar of the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC), announced that Persaud achieved Grade I in Biology, Chemistry, English A, English B, Food and Nutrition, French, Human and Social Biology, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Social Studies and Spanish and Grade II in Geography.

Her colleague Valencia Bailey, who won the award for the Most Outstanding Performance in the Sciences achieved Grade I in 11 subjects and Grade II in one.
