Kevin Lyttle, Rupee up for Sunshine awards

INTERNATIONAL artistes, Kevin Lyttle of St Vincent and the Grenadines and Rupee of Barbados have been nominated for 2005 Caribbean Sunshine Awards for their contribution to regional music.

When the annual awards ceremony comes off October 29, the two singers who were signed to Atlantic Records just over a year ago will be among guests of honour at the New York Sheraton Hotel. {{more}}

Lyttle, meanwhile, with his smash single Turn Me On, soared to No. 2 on the British charts and stayed in the top ten for seven weeks. His single was also No. 1 in Denmark for ten weeks and made waves in the United States.

“I have been working very hard and trying my best to keep an international focus with my music. I believe in what I am doing, and the Caribbean will always be a part of me and my music,” he was quoted as saying.

Rupert ‘Rupee” Clarke, who rocked dancehalls and clubs around the world with his recent hits like Tempted To Touch, What Happens In The Party and Hands, has called his Sunshine Awards nomination “a blessing”.

“It’s an honour to be a part of such a prestigious event that certainly uplifts and helps Caribbean music on so many levels,” he said. (Barbados Nation Newspaper)
