Fashion Caribbean 2005 a huge success

If you have an elegant, sexy, conservative or just plain wild side, these dimensions and more were all brought out at Fashion Caribbean 5.

The gala event, which was held poolside at the Sunset Shores Hotel on Saturday 10, was complimented by perfect weather.{{more}}

The models showed off the creativity of regional designers Calvin Southwell of Antigua, Avark and Ro Joe from Barbados and Brown Sugar of St.Kitts.

Local designers Kimya Glasgow, Deb E. Barbour and veteran Patrice Reddock also showed that they were forces to be reckoned with in the fashion arena with their classic but unique pieces.

Emerging designers such as Shelline Williams, Pinky, Samantha Ince and Shernicia Mayers also had breathtaking pieces that evoked applause with their top of the line cuts, well-blended colours and appropriate fabric textures. Standing out on her own with her eccentric wild pieces was Eniya Kagbala with jewellery by Kyra Rodney.

Some lapses from the dee-jay detracted somewhat from what was an otherwise almost perfect event. It took all the professionalism the models could muster to avoid being thrown off cue at times.

Despite this hiccup, the models were very professional and made the show flow so that patrons at the well-attended fashion event did not feel cheated.
