It promises to be a night of excitement as 10 contestants from around the region compete for the prestigious Miss Carival title Friday July 2 at the Victoria Park. The Caribbean lasses all possess remarkable beauty and intelligence. {{more}}

Chairperson of the Beauty Show Committee, Cheryl Rodriquez said that as the pageant is in its 20th year it will be a special event. Tribute will be paid in song by Gary Young of Troots and Ice to his sister, the late Donna Young, the first Miss Carival, who died in a plane accident in 1986 one year after taking the title.

Rodriguez highlighted that members of first Beauty Shows Committee will also be recognised while numerous local acts would perform. International recording artiste Kevin Lyttle will be the featured act. The Beauty Show’s Committee Chairperson promises that there would never be a dull moment at tonight’s event.

The contestants arrived on Tuesday June 28, and on Wednesday June 29 were welcomed at a breakfast hosted on the Young Island Resort where they were briefed, sashed and presented with gift baskets. Later that day they met with the media at the Botanical Gardens. In the evening the contestants made a guest appearance at the all white fete, “Glow.”

Yesterday, Thursday June 30 they were scheduled to visit various business houses, go on a motorcade and later that evening attend dress rehearsals for the big event on tonight. The reigning Queen of Carival is Miss Guyana Asha Peters.

Newly crowned Miss St.Vincent and the Grenadines 2005, Casynella Ollivierre is representing this country and is confident she can bring the title back home.
