Major education personnel changes

The Ministry of Education is starting off the new academic year with a host of personnel changes, at least one of which has angered the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Union of Teachers.
The Ministry of Education though, stood its ground and the appointment of former Girls’ High School Headteacher Susan Dougan as Chief Education Officer is now a reality, with the educator already on the job notwithstanding the opposition of the Union. {{more}}
Meanwhile former CEO Laura Browne takes over as Permanent Secretary replacing Shirla Francis who has moved to the Prime Minister’s Office.
The new person at the helm of the Girls’ High School is Andrea Bowman, occupying a position that her own mother Norma Keizer, Managing Editor of SEARCHLIGHT held until retirement from the teaching service. Deborah Bacchus moves from the position of Lecturer at the St. Vincent Teachers’ College to Principal of that same institution. Meanwhile Dr. Veronica Marks has been named Director of the Community College which encompasses the St. Vincent Technical College, The Teachers’ College, the School of Nursing and the A’Level College.
The primary school level has also
seen changes, with the following
headteacher appointments: Edmie Charles, Chateaubelair Methodist School; Vedette Bulze, Barrouallie Government; Artis Robinson, Buccament Government, Rita Jack, Kingstown Government; Orde Ballantyne, C.W. Prescod; Yvette Bowen, Richmond Hill Government and
Peggy McMillan, Lauders Government School.
