Bequia fisherman now facing murder charge

ZAKEEM BESS, 25, a fisherman of Paget Farm, Bequia had his attempted murder charge upgraded to murder this week, after the man he is accused of shooting with a flare gun died.

It is alleged that on Friday October 9, 2020, Bess shot 31-year-old fisherman Ottley Ollivierre in the neck with a flare gun in their hometown.

Bess has been charged that with malice aforethought, he did cause the death of Ollivierre. He was initially charged that with malice aforethought, he did attempt to murder Ollivierre.

Ollivierre was hospitalized but succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH).

Ollivierre’s death is the 23rd homicide recorded for year 2020.
