Belair resident accused of puncturing vendor’s lung

A 27-year-old from Belair accused of stabbing a vendor and puncturing his lung has been remanded because of the possibility that his charge may be upgraded.

Labourer Khristoff ‘Khris’ Huggins was brought to the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court yesterday, where he was charged with wounding Michael Glasgow, 28 years of Kelbourney with intent so to do on August 24.

Reports are that the two men had an altercation on the night before and the following day, Glasgow was stabbed twice with a knife and one of his lungs was punctured in the process.

Huggins was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge read by Senior Magistrate Rickie Burnett.

Prosecutor Corlene Samuel in objecting to the accused’s bail, indicated that the victim in the matter is still in the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital, and the injuries are so severe that there is a possibility that the charge might be upgraded. She asked that the matter be reviewed in about a week.

The Senior Magistrate asked Huggins if he had anything to say to this objection, and he indicated that he did not.

The 27-year-old was not granted bail, and he will next appear at the Serious Offences Court on September 3.
