Ministry of Agriculture employee charged with stealing over $1,500

An employee of the Ministry of Agriculture has been charged with stealing over $1500 from the Government.

When she appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court yesterday, 29-year-old Fiziela Clarke of Sandy Bay was charged with stealing $1527.50 from the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines(SVG).

Clarke told Senior Magistrate Rickie Burnett that she was not guilty of the offence, which allegedly took place on July 5, 2019 in Kingstown.

SEARCHLIGHT understands that Clarke works with the Ministry of Agriculture, and is posted to Orange Hill. One of her duties involves collecting money.

Prosecutor Corlene Samuel had no objection to the defendant’s bail, and the magistrate set bail at $1500, with one surety.

Clarke will return to the Magistrate’s Court on September 12.

The Sandy Bay resident was able to walk free after an individual signed as her surety.
