Woman to be sentenced for death of businessman

This Tuesday the prosecution accepted a guilty plea for manslaughter from the woman charged in relation to the death of businessman “Dot Com” who was shot in the head in 2015.

While Laretta Richardson, 34 years, of Long Wall had pleaded not guilty to the murder of Cameron “Dot Com” Primus, she recently pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.

Richardson, who was represented by counsel Patricia Marks-Minors, chose to plead guilty after a sentencing indication hearing. This hearing advised that if she were to plead guilty to manslaughter, then the most time that she may be sentenced to would be 17 years in prison.

The prosecution, led by crown counsel Renée Simmons, accepted the subsequent guilty plea for manslaughter.

Therefore, Richardson will be sentenced on July 19 by Justice Brian Cottle.

Her victim, Primus, part owner of the popular Tree House Bar in Arnos Vale, died on May 28, 2015. His body was found shortly after three in the morning in a vehicle at Walker Piece, New Montrose, with a gun shot wound to the head.

His vehicle had been found in the bushes a short distance away from the main road, with its left side mirror missing.

Three gunshots were heard that night, followed by the sound of a vehicle speeding away.
