Bequia resident on $25,000 bail for cocaine possession

A Bequia resident was arrested in Kingstown last Friday, with allegedly over 1,000 grams of cocaine in his possession.

Thirty-four-year-old Deron Hazell was charged on Monday that he did have in his possession 1,133g of cocaine, with intent to supply, and for the purposes of drug trafficking on March 9 in Kingstown.

Hazell pleaded not guilty to both charges, and with no objection to bail, Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias granted composite bail to him in the sum of $25,000, with one surety.

He is to report twice weekly to the Police Station in Paget Farm, Bequia, on Mondays and Thursdays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., and must surrender his travel documents to the State.

His trial will begin on April 30.

At the end of court for that day Hazell still had not been bailed, and was instead taken away with the other prisoners.
