Bequia duo charged for cocaine worth over $2 million

Two Bequia residents appeared before the Serious Offences Court yesterday to answer three charges related to cocaine with a street value of approximately EC$2,016,000.

On November 15, Shari Ollivierre and Aldo Osborne were arrested and charged with being in possession of 53 pounds of cocaine, with intent to supply; having this in their possession for drug trafficking; and between November 13 and 15 having agreed with each other on a course of conduct that if pursued would have amounted to drug trafficking.

Ollivierre is a 31-year-old female and Osborne is a 45-year-old male and both reside on Bequia.

The charges being laid indictably, the two will be subject to a Preliminary Inquiry (PI).

Although there was no objection to bail, the Chief Magistrate stood down the matter to contemplate whether or not she would grant the duo bail.

However, when she called both back to the stand, she stated that notwithstanding the quantity of the drug, she was prepared to grant them bail.

They were given bail in the sum of $200,000 each, with one surety.

Both are to report to the Port Elizabeth Police Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m..

They are to surrender travel documents and stop orders were placed against them at all ports.

The Preliminary Inquiry is to begin on January 29, 2018.(KR)
