Diamond resident granted $2,000 bail

A man from the village of Diamond has been given bail for three charges, including the assault of a police officer.

Atiba Franklin appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court last Thursday, October 26, pleading not guilty to all charges before him. Franklin was charged with having on his person an offensive weapon, namely a knife; resisting the arrest of an officer, one PC 343 Delpleche and assaulting said officer while he was in the process of exercising his duty. These offences are alleged to have taken place at Diamond on October 20.

There was no objection to the defendant’s bail and as such magistrate Bertie Pompey granted bail in the sum of $2,000 with one surety. The surety having been accepted by the court, Franklin is set to appear at the Colonarie Magistrate’s Court on November 9 for his trial on the matter.(KR)
