New Montrose man charged with gun, ammo possession

A New Montrose man returns to court on Monday, October 9, when he is expected to be tried for possession of a homemade firearm and three different types of ammunition.

On Friday, September 15, Bencito Bramble, a 37-year-old labourer, was arrested and charged with having in his possession a homemade firearm, two rounds of .38 ammunition, one round of .22 ammunition and two rounds of 12-gauge ammunition, without a licence issued under the Firearms Act.

Although Bramble is accused of having the illegal items at New Montrose on September 1, he was only brought to the Serious Offences Court to answer the charges last Monday.

When he appeared in front of Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias, Bramble was granted composite bail in the amount of EC$20,000. He must report to the Kingstown Police Station on Mondays and Thursdays and surrender all travel documents. Stop notices have also been placed at all ports of exit.
