Campden Park man remanded on grevious bodily harm charge

A Campden Park man has been remanded in custody after he was charged with causing grevious bodily harm to another.

Rudolph Andrews appeared before Magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias at the Serious Offences Court on Monday and was charged that on July 25, 2017 at Union Island, he caused grievous bodily harm to Union Island resident Lawrence Alexander, under section 173 of the criminal code of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Andrews was not allowed to enter a plea as the charge laid was indictable.

The prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that the complainant is still warded at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit and has no movement in his body below the neck.

The accused has been remanded for seven days, pending a bail review and an updated medical report on the complainant.(JWC)
