Man nabbed with 105 lbs of marijuana

A Rilland Hill man was yesterday granted bail in the sum of $60,000, after being charged with having 105 pounds of cannabis in his possession.

Asordo Benett, who appeared before magistrate Bertie Pompey at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court yesterday, is charged that on July 20, 2017, at the Ottley Hall Marina, he had in his possession a controlled drug, to wit 47,670 grams of cannabis with intent to supply.

He also faces an additional drug trafficking charge.

The Rilland Hill man pleaded not guilty to both charges and was granted bail in the sum of EC$60,000 with one surety.

He was also ordered to report to the Questelles Police Station every Monday and Friday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. before he reappears before the court on September 25, 2017.
