The trial for a case in which three former employees of Sun General Insurance Inc have been charged with stealing $87,682.65 from the company is expected to begin on June 13, 2017.

On Tuesday, lawyer Israel Bruce, who represents Diana Quammie of Belmont, Shamair Michael of Lowmans Leeward and Shaffique Martin of Fairbaine Pasture, asked for an adjournment, based on certain developments in the case.

The court heard that the defence is in the process of recovering documents from the company related to the case and would like time to complete that process.

The trio is jointly charged with 20 counts of theft between February 2015 and October 26, 2016.

The women are charged with stealing over $31,000 in cash between February and December 2015 and over $56,000 in cash between January and October 2016 from the insurance company.

When they first appeared before the Serious Offences Court, they were granted bail in the amount of $90,000 with one surety, on the condition that both Quammie and Michael report to the Calliaqua Police Station twice a week, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Martin has the same reporting conditions, but she would report to the Questelles Police Station. The trio was also ordered to surrender all travel documents. (AS)
