16-year-old youth charged for gun, ammo

A social inquiry report on a 16-year-old Vermont youth is on the way after he pleaded guilty to a gun and ammunition charge.

Prosecutor Elgin Richards made this request on Monday at the Serious Offences Court, shortly after the teen confirmed his age to the Chief Magistrate.

Rupert Patterson is expected to return to the Serious Offences Court on April 13 for

sentencing, as it relates to a .22 calibre revolver, make and serial number unknown, and four rounds of .22 ammunition.

Officers from the Special Patrol Unit apprehended the Patterson on March 12 at Gunn Hill, while they were patrolling the area.

Following the court proceedings, Patterson explained that someone gave him the firearm to protect their girlfriend. (AS)
