Layou man facing attempted murder charge returns to court on March 24

A case in which a Layou man is charged with the attempted murder of a fellow villager will continue on Friday, March 24, 2017.

On Wednesday, Kemron Henson stood before Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias, charged with the attempted murder of Steve Patterson.

Reports are that on Saturday September 10, 2016, Patterson was making his way home in Cashville, Layou. While he was on the road, he was explaining to a fellow villager that he had done some construction work for Henson’s sister and had not been paid. Henson appeared and pointed his fingers in Patterson’s face and told him he would not receive any pay.

The two got physical with each other and Henson drew a cutlass and chopped Patterson twice on his hand and once on his head and finger.

Henson was chased from the scene by Patterson’s siblings and the badly wounded man was taken to the Layou Police Station, where he was issued a medical form. He was later taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) where he was warded for weeks before being released.

So far, Patterson, his sister, a fellow villager and two police officers have given evidence in the case.

On Wednesday, Henson’s lawyer Jamarlie John asked for an adjournment, stating that he wishes to make a no case submission on his client’s next court appearance.(AS)
