Five men accused of murder maintain their innocence as PI continues

A Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the shooting and chopping murder of Kamau Jones will continue on Thursday, March 23, 2017.

Bridon Joseph, Courtney Joseph, Shemai Joseph, Lennox Andrews and Andres Cuffy are jointly charged with Jones’ murder, which occurred on July 29, 2016.

At first, seven men were charged with the Union Island man’s murder, but when the PI began on February 27, 2017, Malcolm Pollin and Mark Weekes walked out of the Serious Offences Court grinning from ear to ear, when the murder charge against them was withdrawn.

Meanwhile, as the PI began, the remaining five accused were engaged in a heated cross-examination with an elderly resident of Vermont, who testified against them.

On Wednesday, Ricky Gordon, Aliston Gordon, George Davis and Corporal 328 Collin May gave evidence from the witness stand.

So far, all five accused have maintained their innocence, as they await the conclusion of the PI, which would determine whether the case is dismissed or sent to be heard before judge and jury at the High Court. (AS)
