Prison officer freed of charges
Louis Cupid, a prison officer with nine years of service at Her Majestyâs Prison, is now free of charges brought before him last October.
Cupid was charged that on October 31, 2016 at Her Majestyâs Prison in Kingstown, he brought or attempted to bring into Her Majestyâs Prison a prohibited item, to wit âone Azumi cellular phone and its accessories comprising of a headphone, USB cord, adapter and one portable charger contrary to section 47 B of the Prisons Act.â
However, on Friday January 20, 2017, senior prosecutor Adolphus Delpesche informed the court that the Crown would not be proceeding in the matter.
On November 3, 2016, when the Murrayâs Village resident appeared before the Serious Offences Court, he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
He was granted station bail following his arrest last year, which was allowed to continue while the matter was before the court. (AS)
