Trio charged with stealing over $87,000 from Sun General Insurance

Three former employees of Sun General Insurance Inc were yesterday charged with stealing $87,682.65 from the company between February 2015 and October 26, this year.

Diana Quammie of Belmont, Shamair Michael of Lowmans Leeward and Shaffique Martin of Fairbaine Pastures all pleaded not guilty after they were jointly charged with 20 counts of theft at the Serious Offences court.{{more}}

According to the charges, the trio stole over $31,000 in cash between February and December last year and over $56,000 in cash between January and October this year from the insurance company.

The trio was granted $90,000 bail with one surety and both Quammie and Michael are to report to the Calliaqua Police Station twice a week between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Martin has the same reporting conditions, but she will report to the Questelles Police Station.

Quammie, Michael and Martin are to surrender all travel documents and must request permission from the court to leave the state. Stop notices have also been placed at all ports of entry.

They are expected to reappear at the Serious Offences Court on February 6, 2017. (AS)
