Prison Officer to answer charge of smuggling cellphone into prison
A prison officer, who has served for nine years at Her Majestyâs Prison, has been charged with smuggling or attempting to smuggle a cellular phone into the prison.{{more}}
When Murrayâs Village resident Louis Cupid appeared before the Serious Offences Court yesterday, he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Cupid is charged that on October 31, 2016 at Her Majestyâs Prison in Kingstown, he brought or attempted to bring into Her Majestyâs Prison a prohibited item, to wit âone Azumi cellular phone and its accessories comprising of a headphone, USB cord, adapter and one portable charger contrary to section 47 B of the Prisons Act.â
The prison guard was granted station bail, which will continue. He is expected to reappear before the court on November 22, 2016. (AS)
