Nigerian student pleads not guilty to deception charge

A male student at one of the medical schools operating here was yesterday granted bail in the sum of $12,000, after he pleaded not guilty to a charge of deception.{{more}}

Uyi Osunde, a national of Nigeria, is charged with dishonestly obtaining EC$10,000 cash by deception from Stacey DeFreitas of Villa, the property of the Bank of Nova Scotia, Kingstown, with the intention of permanently depriving her of it.

Osunde, who is being represented by defence lawyer Grant Connell, was ordered to surrender his travel documents and report to the Central Police Station on Mondays and Fridays at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

He was granted bail in the sum of $12,000 and will reappear before the court on February 17, 2016.(AS)
