Man pleads not guilty to possession of firearm, weed

Richland Park resident Karon Charles was yesterday granted bail in the sum of $25,000, after he pleaded not guilty to possession of a firearm, ammunition and marijuana.{{more}}

Charles was charged that on August 21 at Richland Park, he had an unlicensed firearm with an unknown serial number; also on said date he had one round of .38 ammunition, which was also unlicensed; and lastly, had in his possession 18 grams of cannabis, with intent to supply.

The 22-year-old labourer, who is being represented by Israel Bruce, will return to the Serious Offences Court on September 2, when the matter is scheduled to be heard.

Between now and then, Charles is to report to the Mesopotamia Police Station between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. every Monday and Friday. His grandfather, who was present in court, stood surety for his bail.(AS)
