Foster granted bail

Close to a month after being acquitted of the charge of murder of his cousin, Odinga ‘Bumsa’ Foster is now out on bail on a kidnapping charge.

On Friday, July 3, at the High Court, Foster’s attorney Kay Bacchus-Browne applied for bail, which was not objected to by crown counsel Karim Nelson.{{more}}

Justice Kathy-Ann Latchoo set the Green Hill resident’s bail at $10,000 with one surety.

He was ordered to report to the Central Police Station on Mondays and Fridays, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

On June 17, Foster was acquitted of the murder of Agassi Fraser, following one month of testimony and more than four hours of deliberations by a 12-member jury.

However, the jury could not come to a verdict on the charge of kidnapping. They were hung at 8-4, at which time a retrial was ordered.

That matter will come up for hearing at the next practical sitting of the High Court’s criminal assizes.

Fraser was found dead on October 10, 2009, face down in the Arnos Vale river, after he had been reported missing two days earlier. The 18-year-old’s disappearance was reported on Friday, October 9, the same day a $60,000 ransom was demanded of his family.(KW)
