Raffique Chewitt, a 24-year-old resident of Calliaqua was remanded after he appeared at the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday.

Chewitt, who is now jointly charged with former national goalkeeper Dwaine Sandy, will have to answer to the attempted murder of Martin James, 44, a resident of Villa and Natterel Stapleton, 36, a resident of Calder, on June 10 at Villa.

Chewitt is also charged with two separate counts of being in possession of a firearm and endangering the lives of James and Stapleton.

The prosecution, on Wednesday, objected to the Chewitt’s bail, stating that one of the victims was still warded at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH).

Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias remanded Chewitt until today, Friday, when she expects a medical report on the victim. The issue of bail would be revisited today.

It is alleged that between 8:30 and 9 pm on June 10, masked men alighted a vehicle in the area of the Young Island dock at Villa and opened fire in the area where people were.(KW)
