Barrouallie resident Diana Gordon had to immediately come up with $2,000 yesterday, after pleading guilty to possession of 841 grams of marijuana, with intent to supply.{{more}}
The 45-year-old domestic was arrested and charged with the offence on June 5, at the Grenadines Wharf, after the controlled substance was found in her possession, concealed in a box of cereal.
She pleaded guilty when she appeared at the Serious Offences Court yesterday.
Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias ordered that if Gordon failed to pay the fine forthwith, she would serve a nine-month prison sentence.
According to the facts read in court, police officers stationed at the wharf were carrying out routine checks at a gate when Gordon approached.
A bag she was carrying was searched and found to contain the loose material in a box of cereal.(KW)
