Clarke, a Green Hill resident, appeared at the Serious Offences Court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to possession of 25,651 grams (56.6 pounds) of marijuana.

The incident is alleged to have taken place on June 1, at the Fisheries wharf in Kingstown.

Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias allowed bail in the sum of $40,000 with one surety.

In addition to his bail, Clarke was ordered to report twice a week to the Central Police Station and surrender his travel documents.

Clarke, with a total catch of 3,111.8 pounds of fish, won this year’s Fisherman of the Year title on May 25, at the Fisherman’s Day festivities in Calliaqua.

He is being represented by attorney Grant Connell.

His matter was adjourned to July 20, 2015.
