Ken Thomas cleared of two more criminal charges

Well-known businessman, Kenrick “Ken” Thomas has been cleared of two criminal charges brought against him last year.

Following a decision by Crown counsel Karim Nelson to not proceed any further with the matters, Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias threw out the case against Thomas.{{more}}

Thomas was charged on October 6, 2014 with handling stolen goods and counselling Erwin Caine of South Rivers to commit the offence of burglary.

The offences were alleged to have been committed between March 2, 2010 and June 3, 2012, at Arnos Vale, at the home of Evelyn Jackson. The value of the stolen items is said to have amounted to over $70,000.

Nelson, in an interview with SEARCHLIGHT said the decision to discontinue the matter was because a key witness for the prosecution refused to give evidence and another witness changed his testimony.

Nelson said they did not have enough evidence to go before the judge to prove their case beyond reasonable doubt.
