The five: Elnathan Blake of Largo Heights, Jemark “Parch Nuts” Jackson of New Montrose and Campden Park residents Akideor Matthews, Shannon Richards and lone female Zovelson Williams are charged with possession of a firearm, on March 20, 2015, at Kingstown.

Matthews pleaded guilty to the charge, while the remaining four maintained their innocence. They were also charged that on March 21, at Kingstown, had a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver in their possession. Matthews again pleaded guilty, while the others pleaded not guilty.

They were further charged with possession of five rounds of ammunition to which Matthews was again the lone person pleading guilty.

He also pleaded guilty to possession of one round of 12-gauge ammunition. The others maintained their not guilty pleas.

Matthews will be sentenced today.

Prosecutor Corporal Gideon Black, in objecting to bail for the defendants, told the court that investigations are currently being carried out with respect to the firearms. Black said while accepting the guilty pleas of Matthews, they will be proceeding against the others.

He, however, asked for an adjournment so that the matter could be further discussed with senior prosecutor Adolphus Delpesche.

Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias granted the request and remanded the defendants.(KW)
