Bail for Sandy Bay man on attempted murder charge


A resident of Sandy Bay has been granted bail in the sum of $30,000 on two counts of attempted murder.

Anthony John, 31, labourer of London, Sandy Bay, appeared at the Serious Offences Court yesterday and was not allowed to enter a plea to the charges that were laid indictably.{{more}}

He is charged with the attempted murder of Zemo Hoyte, 23, and Desron Thomas, 17, both labourers of the same address, on February 2, 2015.

Hoyte suffered a gunshot wound to back of his head, while Thomas sustained gunshot wounds to his face and chest.

As part of his bail conditions, John was ordered to have no contact with the virtual complainants and to surrender his travel documents.

He was also ordered to report to the Sandy Bay police twice per week.

The prosecution intends to call approximately eight witnesses in the matter.

The case will be heard on June 8, 2015.
