Trio charged with possession of 494 pounds of marijuana

Three men have been granted bail in the sum of $180,000 with two sureties, after being charged with possession of 494 pounds of marijuana.{{more}}

Raoul Bowens and Tevin John, both of Rose Place and Raffique Dopwell of Ottley Hall appeared at the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday, and were not able to enter a plea to the indictable charge.

According to reports, the men were intercepted by the Coastguard on February 1, in the waters off Bequia.

As part of their bail conditions, the men were asked to surrender their travel documents and report twice a week to the Central Police Station.

Stop notices were also placed at all ports of entry and exit.

Counsel Michaela Ambrose appeared on the men’s behalf.

The matter has been adjourned to April 27, 2015.(KW)
