455 prisoners in correctional facilities around SVG

The population at the correctional facilities here now stands at 455, 43 more than at the close of the High Court’s Criminal Assizes in July.{{more}}

According to the report read out by Superintendent of Prisons Brenton Charles on Friday, December 19, of the 455 prisoners, 355 are convicted males, with 91 being males on remand. There are five convicted females and four others on remand.

Of the 455, there are 33 non-nationals serving sentences and two awaiting preliminary investigations. One non-national is awaiting trial.

Patrick Lovelace remains the only inmate on death row.

There are three correctional facilities in SVG, namely Her Majesty’s Prisons in Kingstown, Her Majesty’s Prisons at Fort Charlotte (for females) and the Belle Isle Correctional Facility.
