The 24-year-old man was not required to plead to the indictable charge when he appeared at the Serious Offences Court on Monday.

It is alleged that Samuel attacked his ex-girlfriend, Makeeda Jackson, 20, of the same address, by chopping her on her face and hands, with a cutlass at Mt Greenan, on October 31.

Samuel is also charged with unlawfully and maliciously wounding Jackson’s mother, Erma Jackson, 45, also of the same address.

Samuel is alleged to have chopped her on her hand on the same date.

He was also not allowed to plead to the charge.

In objecting to his bail, senior prosecutor Adolphus Delpesche told the court Makeeda is still warded at the female surgical ward at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) and has expressed fear for her life.

Delpesche also indicated that the mother has since been treated and discharged from the hospital.

The matter was adjourned to January 16, 2015 for hearing.
