The 25-year-old officer, who has found himself on the wrong side of the law, appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to theft of a blue, Samsung Galaxy S4 cellular phone, valued at $2,000, the property of Mackandel Bentick, 21, police officer of Montague.

The offence is alleged to have been committed on October 21, 2014 at Kingstown.

Lewis is currently on $2,500 station bail and the matter has been adjourned to November 11, 2014.

Lewis will also re-appear in court on November 7 for the conclusion of an assault matter, where it is alleged that a former security guard at the postal corporation struck him in the face with a door, on May 23, 2014.
