Matthew Edwards pleaded guilty to entering the New Montrose apartment of Nigerian Isiah Solomon, on September 29 and stealing an iPod, laptop computer, a wrist watch and a pair of headphones.

According to the facts, read out by PC 597 Shamrock Pierre, at about 2 a.m., Solomon secured his apartment by locking the doors and leaving some of the windows open.

Solomon, a medical student at the American University in New Montrose, had just finished studying and went to bed, leaving the items on a piece of furniture close to the window in the living room.

At about 5 a.m., Solomon woke up and discovered the items were missing. He made checks and noticed that the doors were not tampered with.

Solomon went into the living room and saw that window’s mesh net had been removed and placed on the ground outside.

The matter was reported and investigations led to the arrest of Edwards.

In a police statement, Edwards admitted to stealing the items mentioned.

All the items, except the headphones, were recovered.

Magistrate Carla James presided over the matter.(KW)
