Son remanded into custody for father’s death

Calvin Johnson has been remanded into custody, charged with the May 1 murder of his father, Calvin Jacobs.{{more}}

The 24-year-old labourer appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Monday and was not allowed to plead to the indictable charge.

The matter was adjourned to July 30, 2014 and was transferred to the Serious Offences Court for Preliminary Inquiry.

On Friday, May 2, the body of the 56-year-old was discovered, not too far from his home at Top Hill, Biabou, in a shallow grave, with his throat cut.

A police report states that the deceased sustained a cutlass wound to his neck and succumbed to the injuries.

A post-mortem examination is expected to be performed on the body.(KW)
