Man claims weed gives him appetite

A Richland Park man told police that he had marijuana in his possession to use to help with his appetite.{{more}}

Carlyle Williams, appeared at the Serious Offences Court yesterday and was fined $50 for possession of 10 grams of cannabis on March 22, at the Grenadines Wharf.

According to the facts of the case, police constable Lowe was on duty at the wharf when she approached Williams and requested a search of his person.

During the search, a plastic bag with the drug was found in Williams’ pants pocket.

When cautioned, he replied: “Ah my weed way me does smoke to give me appetite to brisk up and work.”

Chief magistrate Sonya Young ordered Williams to pay the fine forthwith or go to prison for two days.

The fine was paid.
