A 13-year-old boy of Redemption Sharpes has been granted bail in the sum of $300 after he appeared at the Serious Offences Court on a theft charge.{{more}}

The boy, who is jointly charged with Jamal John, of Arnos Vale, pleaded not guilty, along with John to stealing a Nokia cellular phone, memory card and a Digicel sim card, the property of Haniff Horne, on March 8, in Kingstown.

In the absence of his parent, the boy had to be accompanied by social worker Sandra Augustus.

When asked where was his mother, the arresting officer informed the court that his mother, who is a vendor, told him that they (police) should keep him, because he does not listen.

As part of his bail conditions, Chief Magistrate Sonya Young ordered that the boy be given a tour of Her Majesty’s Prison and that he attends school.

In the case of John, he was already on station bail, which would continue until the matter comes up for hearing on March 17 at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court.
