Greaves, who appeared at the Serious Offences Court on October 16, pleaded guilty to possession of a .22 revolver and five rounds of .22 ammunition.

Chief Magistrate Sonya Young sentenced the 25-year-old to two years on the gun charge and one year on the ammunition possession charge.

The sentences are to run concurrently.

Information reaching the court revealed that on October 15, 2013, members of the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) were on mobile patrol in the Queen’s Drive area when Greaves was observed sitting among a group of men.

The police officers smelled the odour of cannabis coming from their direction and searches were carried out on the men.

When Greaves was searched, the revolver was found in the pocket of a jacket he was wearing. When questioned, Greaves said the gun belonged to his deceased father.(KW)
