After pleading guilty at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, Damien Frank George was deported by magistrate Rickie Burnett.

The court heard that George arrived in the state on September 29, 2012 and was given until March 28, 2013 to leave the country.

The court also heard that on August 26, police attached to the Fire Department at Arnos Vale responded to a call from a woman, who reported George in a matter about money.

The officers went to where George was and observed that he had a foreign accent.

He was questioned about his place of origin and George told them he was from Trinidad and Tobago and had been in SVG since 2012.

The 33-year-old Morvant resident said he used to live in Walvaroo with the woman who reported against him.

“I was love-struck and the time kinda went on and I didn’t apply to stay longer,” George explained.

He added that things went sour in their relationship during the Carnival season and he sought to distance himself from her.

Magistrate Burnett told George that visitors are always welcomed in St Vincent and the Grenadines, but they must comply with the rules.

George apologised for his actions and said he accepted that fact that he had to be deported. (KW)
