Morgan appeared at the Serious Offences Court Wednesday and pleaded guilty to stealing a Panasonic stereo, valued at $3,000, the property of Lauren Sam.

The Chief Magistrate sentenced Morgan to three months imprisonment, but suspended the sentence for one year.

The court heard that on July 15, Sam, who shares a house with Anthony Hepburn, went away at about 4:10 a.m. and secured the house.

Later that day, around 3 p.m, Sam received some information from Hepburn and returned home.

Upon arrival, he saw that a window at the back of the house was open. On closer inspection, Sam discovered his stereo was missing.

The matter was subsequently reported and on July 16, police officers from Barrouallie executed a search warrant and found the stereo hidden under a rock.

When questioned by the court, Morgan said “I didn’t take the set (stereo) for no reason really.”

Morgan also said it was he who had taken the police to retrieve the item.(KW)
