Long Wall resident facing another murder charge

Seven months after he was freed of a murder charge, Long Wall resident Collin David is facing another murder charge.{{more}}

This time, David is on remand for the murder of Jahjust Devon Steele, who was gunned down in Rose Place on May 5, 2013.

David appeared at the Serious Offences Court yesterday, and was not allowed to enter a plea.

Initially, David had been picked in relation to Steele’s murder, but was later released.

He is the second man to be charged in connection with Steele’s murder.

On June 3, 21-year-old Jomorni Tash was charged with Steele’s murder. Later on, David was identified as a possible accomplice in the matter.

Last Saturday, at about 5 p.m., David, who was being sought by police, returned to St Vincent and the Grenadines from Grenada, on a coast-guard vessel, in the custody of members of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force.

David and Tash will re-appear in court on October 21 for a Preliminary Inquiry into the matter.

Attorney Israel Bruce appeared on David’s behalf in the matter.

In November 2012, Director of Public Prosecution Colin Williams discontinued a trial in which David was charged with the murder of Ashley “Seymour” Warren .

Warren, a fruit vendor, succumbed to a single bullet to his neck, after leaving his fruit stall at Little Tokyo to carry out a transaction at Long Wall, on January 22, 2009.

A well placed source told SEARCHLIGHT that David is also a person of interest in another police investigation.

David is the second wanted man to return to St Vincent from Grenada in less than a week. On June 17, Dwaine Sandy, who had been wanted in connection with a shooting and robbery incident which took place on June 13 in Kingstown, surrendered himself to police after he returned to St Vincent and the Grenadines from Grenada, accompanied by his lawyer.(KW)
