10 year sentence for manslaughter

On Tuesday, Chapmans Village resident Kendal “Crabby” Glasgow was sentenced to ten years imprisonment, after pleading guilty to a manslaughter charge.{{more}}

High Court Judge Wesley James handed down the sentence on November 27, after Glasgow pleaded guilty to causing the death of Grenadian Phil “Sean” Henry, on April 17, 2009.

Glasgow, 34, was initially charged with murder, but pleaded guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter.

After a three-day search, police officers found Henry, 32, in the Morne Ronde mountains dead with a gunshot wound to the face.

Glasgow was jointly charged with Osrick Young, 30, also of Chapmans Village, with the murder of Henry.

The case against Young is yet to be heard.

According to a police statement given by Glasgow, there was an altercation between the deceased, Young and himself, during which both he and Young fired at the deceased.

However, he said it was Young who fired the fatal shot.

A Social Inquiry report read in court on Tuesday stated that Glasgow was not a good prospect for rehabilitation and reform.

In mitigation, Glasgow’s attorney, Kay Bacchus-Browne said her client took the responsibility and pleaded guilty at an early stage.

Bacchus-Browne also stated that Glasgow only fired a shot to frighten the deceased, but the fatal bullet came from another gun.

“He’s accepted the charge. He’s now in a position to help the crown with his testimony…,” she said.(KW)
