Vincentian, three St Lucians caught with 200 lbs of ganja

A Vincentian man and three St Lucian men were caught in possession of an estimated EC$80,000 worth of marijuana last week in St Lucia, during a random traffic search.{{more}}

At 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, the Traffic Enforcement Team (TET), attached to the Royal St Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), busted four men carrying almost 200 lbs of compressed marijuana in a vehicle.

The traffic check, which took place at Ti Colon, is reported to have been a random search. Reports indicate that police seized 5 flour bags of compressed marijuana from a green motor vehicle driven by 49-year-old Mathew Auguste of Ciceron.

The officers apprehended the motor vehicle, an SUV, registration number PA 236. The other occupants of the vehicle included a Vincentian in the person of Sidney Cordice who is 35 years old, 26-year-old Stevenson Bascom from Anse La Raye and a resident of Goodlands, and Trevor Anderson, aged 30.

The four men, after the incident, had been taken into police custody. The men are expected to face charges. The incident is still being investigated.
