Mayreau women jailed for receiving stolen cash

Two women from the Grenadine island of Mayreau have been jailed for their involvement in the theft of a quantity of cash from a yacht moored off the Tobago Cays.{{more}}

18-year-old Tonisha Forde and 28-year-old Jenelia Grant appeared at the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday.

Chief Magistrate Sonya Young handed down a three-month sentence to Forde and four months to Grant.

The court heard that Forde was arrested and charged for having in her possession the sum of US$1,300 and Grant US$1,000, sums which they knew or believed to be stolen or dishonestly obtained and undertook or assisted in its retention at Mayreau.

Earlier, Jordon Forde and Jason Alexander, both of Mayreau, received sentences of 11 and six months respectively for entering the vessel ‘Aliza’, which was anchored off the Tobago Cays and stealing US$3,320 which belonged to Jose Calderin on Friday, August 17.(DD)
