Senior Magistrate Donald Browne handed down the sentence, following the statement which was read out in the court.

On July 10, Bennet sold Gurley the bottles of what was presented as three and a half bottles of strong rum, for $75.

The court heard that Bennet used an adhesive to seal the bottles of water and it was not until Gurley, who purchased the liquor for resale, attempted to sell the drink, that it he discovered that the contents of the bottles was water.

Magistrate Browne was not hesitant as he handed down the 21-day sentence.

He described the act as “wicked.” (DD)
