Jailed Langley Park men must pay $6,000 after release or spend another year in prison

The men, charged with grievous bodily harm, were found guilty on Monday at the Serious Offences Court by Chief Magistrate Sonya Young.

The court heard that on January 23, 2012, at Langley Park, Connell became involved in an argument with one of the men.

During the fight, one of the men held down Connell, while the other took up a stone and slammed it on his leg – breaking it in two places.

Connell’s leg is still in a cast and he has to be assisted by crutches.

Magistrate Young stated that she felt Connell was ambushed back in January.

After serving their sentences, Shallow and Cain will have to come up with $3,000 each to pay in compensation, within six months of their release. In default, they would face another year in prison.(KW)
