Public Servant arrested at airport on Carnival Monday

Twenty-five-year-old public servant Monique Williams of Walvaroo was on Wednesday, July 11 granted bail in the sum of $15,000, after she pleaded not guilty to charges of having in her possession 10,442 grams of cannabis {{more}} with intent to supply and possession of a controlled substance.

Williams was arrested at the E. T. Joshua Airport on Monday, July 9. Police say she was arrested while attempting to leave the country with a quantity of cannabis.

Williams, who is employed with the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines and stationed at the Audit Office, appeared before Chief Magistrate Sonya Young at the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday.

There was no objection to bail by Prosecutor Inspector Adolphus Delplesche when the subject of bail arose.

When Williams emerged from the court, she was shielded by relatives and friends and wore large sunglasses and a brown hoodie over her head. The matter was adjourned to July 26.
