Senior Magistrate Donald Browne handed down the fine to Mark Maynard when he appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

The court heard that on Friday, April 13, police officers from Chateaubelair received information that Maynard was staying at the home of another man.

When officers went to the man’s home, Maynard was found hiding in a clothes closet.

The fisherman told the lawmen he was from Barbados and did not clear immigration authorities. He also indicated that he did not have a valid passport.

In addition to the fine, a deportation order was made against Maynard.
